Velothon Sunshine Coast 2018

Welcome to the ultimate winter cycling escape, bringing together a stunning riding location, dream riding conditions and a world-class rider experience on and off the bike. Velothon Sunshine Coast (12 - 22 July 2018) is a Gran Fondo style, mass participation cycling event in and around the renowned hinterland and coastal roads of the Sunshine Coast.

The Ocean Street World Festival

Australia’s largest free cultural festival in a celebration of diversity showcasing artists, customs, colours and flavours from around the world, creating a global village in the heart of the Sunshine Coast. Maroochydore will come alive to the sights and sounds of the most colourful nations on earth at the Ocean Street World Festival 2018.

Performers, artisans and chefs from all over the globe will showcase their talents in a celebration of diversity promising a feast for the senses on Easter Sunday, 1 April. Samba will rub shoulders with Bollywood, djembe players will jostle with belly dancers as Ocean St becomes a melting pot of customs, colours and flavours.

And as the sun goes down, the entertainment ratchets up with sets from the unique flamenco electronica fusion that is Tijuana Cartel, and the irresistible Latin big band salsa of Chukale.

Mooloolaba Christmas Boat Parade 2017

The annual event is organised by Mooloolaba Yacht Club and proudly sponsored by The Wharf Mooloolaba and the Sunshine Coast Council. 

The Parade starts at 6:30pm. It travels from The Wharf Mooloolaba to Mooloolah Island, then down to La Balsa Park, back up the river towards Mooloolaba Wharf  turning into Kawana Canal down to Lawries Marina, back to river, down to La Balsa Park for second viewing and then back to The Wharf Mooloolaba for judging.

Rush Festival 2017

Rush Festival (5 - 21 October) is a celebration of creativity, arts, culture and heritage that ignites the Gympie region with colour, music, dance, art, theatre, film, poetry and fun throughout the month of October. Rush Festival’s diverse collaborative program creatively entwines grassroots events and celebrations with the internationally acclaimed Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival, Gold Rush Festival and Widgee Bush Balladeers. 

From art competitions, masterclasses, and debates to theatre, concerts, comedy acts, and family fun there is something for everyone to enjoy and experience during Rush Festival. The festival welcomes people from all walks of life to enjoy, engage, create, learn, grow, film, play, act, dance, sing and connect in the Gympie region. Come for a day or stay for the month to truly engage and appreciate this unique region during the Rush Festival.

Medieval fun with Sir Justyn at the Castle

Well known medieval performer and educator and Sunshine Castle resident Knight Sir Justyn, features regularly in the Sunshine Castle during School Holidays and will return this September for his monthly displays at the castle. 

Be sure not to miss the canon fire or the weapons and armour talks or one of his ever changing archery challenges, jousting or trebuchet firing activities. Sir Justyn brings history to life and appears to have an answer for even the tricky questions. Get up close and personal and enjoy the different elements of his medieval themed interactive displays. 

All children must be accompanied by their parent or guardian at all times. Activity is free with castle admission.

2017 Ginger Flower and Food Festival

The Ginger Factory’s iconic Ginger Flower and Food Festival is back for its 21st year and promises to delight the senses with three spectacular days of food, flowers and entertainment for all.

From Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd January 2017 the park will burst alive with colour, showcasing the largest and most exquisite range of ornamental gingers and heliconias that thrive in our sub-tropical climate.

Christmas at Australia Zoo

What better way to celebrate Christmas down under than by visiting Santa at Australia Zoo? Santa will be roaming the Zoo until 24 December to check his list and decide who's naughty or nice. You can even take a photo with him in the wildlife studio at 11.00 am.

Mary Valley Scarecrow Festival 2016

Spot the scarecrow in Mary Valley Country, South East Queensland, from 21 October until 12 November! The annual festival encourages people to plan a day out in Mary Valley Country, and see if they can find the variety of serious and not so serious straw creations along the way. A Google map can be downloaded to let you know where all the entries are.

Spetember is Wellness Month at Eumundi Markets

Put Saturdays in September in your diary for Wellness Month at Eumundi Markets - celebrating all things good for your body, mind and soul. Hosted at the Original Eumundi Markets, Wellness Month is free of charge. 

Market visitors are encouraged to come along each Saturday for free yoga classes; healthy cooking demonstrations by renowned health foodies; and workshops and talks by some of Australia's top health and wellness professionals. 

In addition there will be a Wellness Trail of over 50 health and wellness stalls throughout the market including healing foods, herbal medicines, essential oils, candles, incense, soaps and skincare, homeopathy, naturopathy, massage, clairvoyance and astrology.

Sunshine Coast Marathon 2016

Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival (19 - 21 August), is one of the most-loved running festivals in Australia.

This not-for-profit event has been timed to make the most of the ideal Queensland winter running conditions. Blue skies, low humidity and mild temperatures combined with a flat course always enable fast times. 

Event distances include the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and the 2km. Each road race follows the stunning coastline of Alexandra Headlands with white sandy beaches and spectacular vantage points alongside the ocean. 

With a distance to suit every ability and age group, this community-focused, world-class athletic event caters to all those wanting to take part, including families and those with both physical and intellectual disabilities.

2016 Queensland Oztag All Schools Tournament

The Queensland Oztag All Schools tournament is Queensland Oztag's premier school based event and is open to teams representing both public and private secondary schools throughout the state. 

Prizes will be presented to winning teams of each division. Come and see whose up for the challenge to be declared Queensland State Champion!

International Rally of Queensland

Some of the fastest drivers in the world are heading to the Sunshine Coast for the annual International Rally of Queensland. Crews from as far afield as Europe, India and Japan, plus others from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia battle for the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship on scenic stages around Imbil and Kenilworth. 

For a up-close experience on Friday night, join the fun of the official Ceremonial Start in Cotton Tree Park. Drivers and cars will be on display and there will be plenty of entertainment, food and refreshments.
